‘Art Word Place’ exhibition at Tamworth Regional Gallery

Opening on Friday 1 November at the Tamworth Regional Gallery is an exhibition called ‘Art Word Place’ which features work by artists and writers from the New England North West who were inspired by their home landscape.

I was very pleased to be involved in this fabulous project coordinated by Arts North West and enjoyed collaborating with my good friend and fellow Gunnedah resident, Anne Bell Knight, to create a painting inspired by a poem written by Anne entitled ‘Resonance’.

Please join us for opening night at 5.15pm at the gallery, all welcome! The exhibition will run until 8 December 2019.

Resonance

I sound the rungs of the water tank,
drumming with knuckles on iron, until
resonant,
they answer me,
speaking of many things –

Of first light fingering green leaves,
the murmur of stirring birds,
frog song
and cricket call;
of the flight of hesitant clouds
across the cup of the sky,
the sweet cool depths of shadowed things
and rivers outflung arms;
of noon and night and spreading time,
plains and hills and horizons –
and the wistful wind, that brings
the scent of coming rain.
